Men’s Soccer Squares Off Against Loras In Second Round Of NCAA Tournament

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team is set to face No. 9 Loras College in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 5:00 p.m. at the Rock Bowl.

THE SERIES
Sunday’s match will be the 11th meeting between Gustavus and Loras in men’s soccer. The Gusties hold the upper-hand in the all-time series with a record of 8-2-0. Gustavus came out victorious 1-0 in the last meeting on Oct. 10, 2011 in St. Peter. The two teams have met twice in the NCAA Tournament leading up to Sunday’s contest. The Gusties took the first pairing by the score of 3-0 in the 2005 section semifinal held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and also earned a 1-0 win in the first round in 2006 at home on the Gustie Soccer Field

HOW WE GOT HERE
Gustavus used a goal at the 78:31 mark by David Lilly (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) to edge Dominican 1-0 in its first round match. Recap 

Following a scoreless opening half in its tournament-opener against Westminster, Loras got goals from Spencer Moore at 65:14 and Mike Pizzello at 73:09 to come away with the 2-0 win. Recap
