Women’s Soccer To Eau Claire For Saturday Match

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s soccer team will trek to Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. match with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Gusties will bring an 0-2-1 record into the match, while the Blugolds currently stand at 1-2-1.

Last Time Out:
Gustavus: The Gusties remained scoreless on the season after 110 minutes with UW-La Crosse this past Saturday. Gustavus was able to outshoot UW-La Crosse 13-9 and dictated play for both overtime periods, but came just short of the put-away goal it was looking for. Maddison Ackiss (So., Fairbanks, Alaska) had three of those shots, including one on goal in the final 20 seconds of regulation. Ackiss broke away from the Eagles’ back line and had just goalkeeper Ashley Tracy to beat, but Tracy was able to come up with the save to preserve the match and send it into overtime.

UW-Eau Claire: The Blugolds took on their fourth MIAC opponent of this young season on Wednesday and moved their record to 1-2-1 with a 2-1 victory over St. Olaf College. With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Blugold midfielder Megan Larsen took a shot from 20 yards out that soared over the head of Ole goalkeeper Ruth Hesse and just under the cross bar to give UW-Eau Claire its first victory of the season.

Series History:
Saturday’s match marks the tenth all-time meeting between Gustavus and UW-Eau Claire in women’s soccer. Gustavus holds the upper hand in the all-time series with a record of 5-4. However, the last time these two teams met, which happened to be the Gustie’s first match of 2013, the Blugolds emerged victorious by a score of 3-0 in a match played on the Gustie Soccer Field.
