St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team will gear up for a busy weekend with a pair of home matches against regionally ranked competition at the Gustie Soccer Field. On Friday, Sept. 12, Gustavus will take on the Saints of the College of St. Scholastica at 4:00 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 14, the Gusties will face the Titans of University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 1:00 p.m. Gustavus heads into the weekend at 4-2-0 overall, while St. Scholastica and UW-Oshkosh are both 3-1-0.
“Both games should be a test for the lads to look forward to,” said Head Coach Mike Middleton about the weekend. “We have conference starting next Wednesday and have certainly tested ourselves in this non-conference section of the season. Classes have started to settle down and all the hubbub at the start of the semester is also calming down, so its nice to see the lads getting back to a regular routine after this early season seat-of-your-pants game on top of game approach.”
“A nice weekend, results wise, will have us back in the national poll reckoning, and we will have performed as well as we could have hoped through the early season travails,” Middleton added. “We are certainly playing some nice stuff but have lost the two games despite that. These two games are going to be as tough as any we have faced or will face this year, which is something to look forward to!”
