Louisville, Ky. – After taking home Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week honors earlier this week, rookie hurler Hannah Heacox (Stillwater, Minn.) has added to her weekly resume. Heacox was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Pitcher-of-the-Week on Wednesday after helping the Gusties to a 7-1 record last week and securing the No. 2 seed in the MIAC Playoffs.
Heacox tallied a perfect 4-0 record with three shutouts and a save in six appearances for the Black and Gold. She allowed just seven hits, walked three, and collected 37 strikeouts in 27 and two-thirds innings of work. Most impressive, her opponents hit a staggering .075 and she did not allow a single run during the week, a streak that extends back to 32 and two-thirds innings. She has not given up a run since Saturday, April 19th.
Hannah is currently in the midst of a phenomenal rookie season that has seen her to an 11-2 record with an earned run average (ERA) of 2.25. She also has 105 strikeouts compared to just 28 walks in 96 and a third innings of work. Against league opponents, Heacox has recorded 83 strikeouts, which lead the conference, while she has also racked up nine wins (2nd/MIAC) and a 1.91 ERA (4th/MIAC).
Gustavus will enter the MIAC Playoffs with an overall record of 23-13 and a mark of 17-5 in the MIAC. The Gusties will take on the No. 3 seed, which is yet to be determined, at Augsburg College at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, May 2nd.
