Women’s Tennis Opens Season With 7-0 Loss To Drake

Des Moines, Iowa – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s tennis team opened its 2014 season with an 8-0 loss to Division I Drake University on Saturday afternoon at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.  With the loss, the Gusties begin the season with a record of 0-1.

Drake got straight set wins from all six singles positions, including 6-0, 6-0 wins from Maddie Johnson at third singles, Nell Boyd at fourth singles, and Jordan Eggleston at sixth singles.

Laurel Krebsbach (Jr., North Oaks, Minn.) was the most competitive Gustie, falling to Klavdija Rebol 6-4, 6-1 at second singles.

In doubles, the Bulldogs recorded wins at the second and third positions, each winning 8-1.  The final doubles match went unfinished at the No. 1 position.
