Volleyball Falls To Augsburg 3-0

Paige Breneman had 14 digs against Augsburg on Saturday night.

Minneapolis – The Gustavus Adolphus volleyball team suffered its second straight sweep on Saturday night, falling 3-0 to Augsburg College.  Gustavus’ offense struggled in its second match of the weekend, hitting a season-low -0.37 as a team.  Gustavus drops to 7-10 overall and 1-4 in the MIAC, while Augsburg is now 10-7 overall and 2-2 in the MIAC.

The Auggies cruised to their second MIAC win of the season through set scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-13.

Leading the Gustavus offense was Emily Gilman (So., Maple Grove, Minn. ) and Emily Phillips (Sr., Cleveland, Minn.) who finished with six and five kills, respectively.  Paige Breneman (So., Sherburn, Minn.) finished with 14 digs, and Kendra Weege (So., Watertown, Minn.) had 16 assists.

Ashley Peper of Augsburg had a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs, while Emma Sievers recorded a match-high 17 digs.

The Gustavus volleyball team will have a week’s worth of rest before embarking on its next outing.  The Gusties will be on the court next weekend when they travel to Waverly, Iowa to compete in the Wartburg College Tournament on Oct. 5-6.
