St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s soccer team held a youth clinic for the St. Peter girls 12-and-under (U12) soccer team on Thursday evening. The Gustie women participated with the team in drills, as well as a game to end the clinic. The St. Peter girls will be honorary ball girls on Wednesday, October 17th when the Gusties take on Buena Vista University, during which the U12 girls will also play a game at halftime. A second clinic is scheduled for Thursday, October 4th from six to seven p.m. at Gustavus.
“We constantly tell our players that being part of a college soccer program is something greater than yourself, it’s being a role-model by representing not only our women’s soccer program, athletic department, and college, but the greater community as well,” said head coach Laura Burnett-Kurie. “With this role, it’s important for us to give back and help influence local youth soccer players in a positive way. Working with the St. Peter U12 girls soccer team tonight was an opportunity to give back to them, thank them for their support, and help inspire them to achieve their dreams.”
The Gusties will take the field this weekend in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play, when they travel to St. Joseph, Minn., to take on the College of Saint Benedict. Kick off is set for 1:00 p.m.
