Nordic Skiing Completes First Competition At Wolverine Ski Challenge

The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic skiing teams competed in their first official competition of the season on Saturday and Sunday at the Wolverine Ski Challenge in Ironwood, Mich.

The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic skiing teams competed in their first official competition of the season on Saturday and Sunday at the Wolverine Ski Challenge in Ironwood, Mich.

Anders Bowman and Marian Lund led their respective teams both days. Bowman paced the Gustie men in Saturday’s 10K Freestyle with a 31st place finish in 25:43.5, and followed with a 14th place result in Sunday’s 10K Classic in a time of 27:31.0. For the women, Lund took 21st overall and sixth in her division with a time of 14:53.9 in the 5K Freestyle Saturday, and in Sunday’s 10K Classic, she came in 30th overall – 10th in her division – with a time of 34:50.8.

The Gustie men and women have a long stretch before their next competition, which will be at the Hilltop Invitational in Duluth, Minn. on Jan. 14-15. The race will be the first NCAA Qualifier of the season.
