Tom Brown Named Director of Athletics

President Jack R. Ohle announced the hiring of Tom Brown, a native of Milaca, Minnesota and a 1986 graduate of Augustana College (S.D.) as Director of Athletics at Gustavus Adolphus College. Brown, who has been a part of the Gustavus Athletics Department as a coach, instructor and administrator since 1991, succeeds Dr. Al Molde who recently announced his retirement after 15 years at Gustavus and 40 years as an athletic administrator and coach.

Gustavus Director of Athletics Al Molde Announces Retirement

Dr. Al Molde, the athletics director at Gustavus Adolphus College for the past 15 years, has announced that he will retire at the end of the current academic year. Dr. Molde, a 1966 graduate of Gustavus and a Montevideo, Minn. native, replaced Jim “Moose” Malmquist when Malmquist retired in 1997. He is one of only seven full-time athletics directors that have been employed by the College since the position was created in 1920.

Penalty Killers Stay Hot, Men’s Hockey Edges No. 4 UW-River Falls 2-1

The Gustavus men's hockey team picked up a 2-1 win over No. 4 UW-River Falls on Wednesday night in River Falls, Wis. Gustavus, who has won its last five contests, improves to 7-4-2 overall on the season, while the Falcons drop to 9-2-2 overall.

Draayer Nets Game-Winner In Overtime, Women’s Hockey Tops UW-Superior 1-0

The Gustavus women's hockey team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Superior 1-0 in overtime Tuesday night in St. Peter, Minn. First-year forward Carolyn Draayer knocked in the game-winner 1:32 into the extra frame, improving the Gusties to 9-0-1 overall.
