Gustavus senior Jens Brabbit took 36th place in the 10k freestyle race on Wednesday at the NCAA Skiiing Championships in Stowe, Vermont.
Brabbit (Winona, Minn./Cotter) entered the meet as one of only eight qualifiers from NCAA Division III. “He earned the opportunity to test himself with the best skiers in the country,” Coach Jed Friedrich said. “Considering where Jens was seeded coming into the race, he was right on par.”
Brabbit finished with a time of 28:07.0, as part of a pack that saw eleven skiers finish within a span of thirty seconds. “I felt pretty solid,” Brabbit said. “Overall, I’m happy with how it went.”
Brabbit will compete again on Friday, March 11, in the 20k classic race. “I’m looking forward to the mass start of the 20k race,” he said. “Let’s hope I have that extra gear.”
You can watch the race live at the NCAA Skiing Championships Website. The race is scheduled to start at 10:30 am (CST).
