Women’s Tennis Falls 7-2 To Carnegie Mellon In First Round Of ITA Indoor Championship

The Gustavus women’s tennis team fell 7-2 to Carnegie Mellon in the first round of the 2011 ITA Indoor Championship being held March 4-6 on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.

Marianne Barau defeated Carnegie Mellon's Alexandra Tapak 6-0, 6-3 in the match.

The Gustavus women’s tennis team fell 7-2 to Carnegie Mellon University in the first round of the 2011 ITA Indoor Championship being held March 4-6 in the Swanson Tennis Center.  Marianne Barau and Mary Roop recorded Gustavus’ two wins in the match.  Following a sweep of the doubles competition, Carnegie Mellon got wins from Laura Chen and Courtney Chin to give the Tartans the decision and first round victory.

The Gusties fall to 3-3 overall on the season.  They will face DePauw University in the consolation semifinals at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.  Carnegie Mellon moves on to play Emory University in the semifinals at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
