The Gustavus gymnastics team dropped a dual meet to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Friday night in Eau Claire by the score of 172.575 to 179.950. Dani Thibodeau paced the Gusties with a 3rd place finish in the All-Around with a total of 35.250 and third place finish on the vault with a score of 9.225. Sam Opsahl registered the high score of the day with a mark of 9.350 on the balance beam.
As a team, Gustavus posted individual event scores of 44.650 on the vault, 39.950 on the uneven bars, 44.275 on the balance beam and 43.700 on the floor exercise.
Individually, Thibodeau led the way with scores of 9.225 on the vault (3rd), 8.500 on the uneven bars (4th), 8.825 on the balance beam (7th) and 8.700 on the floor exercise (8th). Jamie Ries also turned in a fine performance with a fourth place finish in the All-Around (34.775) including an 8.90 on the vault (8th), an 8.200 on the uneven bars (7th), an 8.800 on the balance beam (8th), and a 8.875 on the floor exercise (6th).
Other top performances for Gustavus included Sam Opsahl finishing third on the balance beam with a score of 9.350 and Kacy Lorber placing fourth on the vault with a total of 9.025.
The Gusties will wrap up their regular season with a dual meet at Winona State University next Thursday night at 6:30 pm.
