The Gustavus gymnastics team posted a score of 175.525 to finish fourth out of four teams at the Best of Minnesota meet hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on Saturday evening. The Gusties were led by Danielle Thibodeau who finished sixth in the All-Around with a score of 36.025.
As a team, the Gusties posted a season high total of 46.150 on the vault, while also scoring 41.750 on the uneven parallel bars, 44.825 on the floor exercise and 42.800 on the balance beam.
The Gusties vault total of 46.150 was just .500 off of the school record of 46.650 set at the Best of Minnesota meet in February of 2007. The Gusties were led by Samantha Opsahl and Danielle Thibodeau who each scored 9.275. Jamie Ries was next with a 9.250, followed by Kacy Lorber with a 9.225, and Tiffany Etterman with a 9.125.
Thibodeau turned in a solid All-Around performance with a season best 36.025, which was just off her career best score of 36.350. She posted totals of 9.275 on the vault, 8.800 on the bars, 8.750 on the balance beam, and 9.200 on the floor exercise. First year Jamie Ries also registered a strong All-Around performance as she posted a career best total of 35.175 including a 9.250 on the vault, 8.450 on the bars, 8.575 on the balance beam, an 8.900 on the floor exercise.
The Gusties will host their final home meet of the season on Thursday when UW-Stout comes to St. Peter for a dual meet, which is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
