The Gustavus gymnastics team posted its best team score of the season Saturday afternoon, but finished third out of three teams in the Gustie Triangular. UW-La Crosse won the meet with a team score of 180.950, while the Hamline Pipers took second with 176.325. The host Gusties rounded out the competition with a mark of 171.650.

Despite the third place finish, the Gusties improved their best team score of the season by 7.725 points. Gustavus posted season-best scores in every event, tallying 44.875 on the vault, 40.950 on the uneven bars, 42.875 on the beam, and 42.950 on the floor exercise.

Danielle Thibodeau posted a career best score of 9.225 on the balance beam.

The Gusties were led by a pair of third place finishes by Kelly Mathewson and Danielle Thibodeau. Mathewson scored 8.950 on the uneven bars, while Thibodeau tallied 9.225 points on the balance beam.  Other top Gustavus finishes included Jamie Reis capturing fifth place on the uneven bars (8.750), Samantha Opsahl finishing sixth on the beam (8.950), and Thibodeau taking sixth in the All-Around (34.900).

Christa Booman of UW-La Crosse had a big day, finishing first on the vault (9.550), the uneven bars (9.500), and the All-Around (37.425). Rounding out the top three in the All-Around were the Hamline duo of Lissette LaFex with a score of 35.450, and Molly Weber with a score of 35.325.

The Gusties will return to action on Friday, February 4th, when they travel to La Crosse, Wisconsin for the Gershon Invitational.
