Frank Advances To Championship Match At ITA Championships

Samantha Frank continued her strong run at the USTA/ITA Small College Championships as she advanced to the championship match of the singles draw with a hard-fought win over Karisse Bendijo of The College of New Jersey by the score of 7-5, 7-5 on Friday morning.

Samantha Frank continued her strong run at the USTA/ITA Small College Championships as she advanced to the championship match of the singles draw with a hard-fought win over Karisse Bendijo of The College of New Jersey by the score of 7-5, 7-5 on Friday morning. Frank will now face Kristin Lim of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for the Division III singles title on Saturday morning at 8:30 am.

In doubles play, the Gustavus duo of Megan Gaard and Marianne Barau lost a very tight match in the consolation draw to Li and Vaca Guzman of the University of Chicago 4-6, 6-1, 7-10 and then bounced back to defeat Otto and Roberg of Whitman 6-2, 6-2 to finish in seventh place.

The 2010 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships are taking place October 14-17 at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama, the world’s largest public tennis facility.  The eight regional singles champions and the eight regional doubles champions face off to determine a Division III National Champion and then the winners take on the winners of Division II, NAIA, and the Junior/Community College Division to determine an overall National Small College Champion.
