Men’s Soccer Continues Winning Ways With 1-0 Win At Macalester

The Gustavus men’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches (5-0-2) with a 1-0 win over #19 Macalester on Wednesday night in St. Paul. Mark Adams scored the game-winner for the Gusties in the 39th minute, while Luke Strom posted his third consecutive shutout in goal.

The Gustavus men’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches (5-0-2) with a 1-0 win over #19 Macalester on Wednesday night in St. Paul.  Mark Adams scored the game-winner for the Gusties in the 39th minute, while Luke Strom posted his third consecutive shutout in goal.

“We came out and established control early and then Mark (Adams) rewarded our play with a beautiful goal late in the first half,” stated Coach Mike Middleton.  He added, “Our movement and shape throughout the match were excellent and it led to a significant advantage in possession.”

Gustavus has outscored its opponents 14-2 during the unbeaten streak and has posted shutouts in five of the seven matches.  Gustie goalkeeper Luke Strom has not allowed a goal in 3+ games ( a total of 303:11 consecutive minutes) dating back to the 1-1 tie with St. Olaf.

Gustavus will host #8 UW-Whitewater in St. Peter on Sunday.  Gustavus is now 7-3-3 overall and 2-1-3 in MIAC play (sixth place).
