Men’s Golf Falls To Fifth After Day Two At MIAC Championship Posted on October 3rd, 2010 by

Simon Erlandsson improved five strokes from day one. He is currently in 13th with a 153.

The Gustavus men’s golf team struggled in the second day of competition at the 2010 MIAC Championship, falling two places to fifth after shooting a 312 for a two-day score of 618 (+42).  Saint John’s remains in first place after recording a 292 in day two for a total of 586 (+10).  Saint Olaf and St. Thomas round out the top-three in second (605) and third (610), respectively.  The MIAC Championship is being held at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.

Individually, Gustavus’s Simon Erlandsson shot a 74 in day two, improving five strokes from day one, and moving into 13th place (153). Andrew Oakes turned a 79 today, dropping four strokes and falling to 14th place (154).  Alex Kolquist is the only other Gustavus golfer in the top-20, ranking 20th with a 76-80-156.  Tyler McMorrow sits in 27th (158), while Alex Pederson is in 36th (162).

Saint John’s Dennis Granath is still the current leader with a mark of 72-72-144 (E).  Following him are Nick Santrach of Macalester and Andrew Whitchurch of Concordia. They are tied for second with a 146 (+2).

The Gustavus men’s golf team will tee off for the final day of competition tomorrow at 9:30 am.
