Women’s Soccer Cruises Past Northland 6-0

After being shutout in the opening match of the 2010 season on Wednesday afternoon, the Gustavus women’s soccer team turned the tables with a 6-0 win over Northern College at the Emblem Advantage Cup on Saturday afternoon in Duluth, Minn. The Gustavus women’s soccer team will conclude the Emblem Advantage Cup on Sunday with a match against St. Scholastica at 4:30 p.m.

Volleyball Splits Two Matches On First Day of Elmhurst Invitational

The Gustavus volleyball team made new head coach Rachelle Dosch's first game as a collegiate head coach a successful one as the Gusties defeated Augustana College by the score of 3-1 at the Elmhurst Invitational in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Men’s Soccer Preview

The Gustavus men’s soccer program will take on a new look in 2010 as Mike Middleton takes over as the head coach and ushers in a new era of Golden Gustie Soccer. Gustavus opens regular season play on Saturday, September 4 with a match against Northland College, which will be played at St. Scholastica in Duluth beginning at 2:30 pm.

Women’s Golf Preview

Expectations will be high once again for the Gustavus women’s golf team as Division III National Coach of the Year Scott Moe welcomes back four letterwinners, including three of last year’s top four players from a team that was MIAC Champions and finished second at the NCAA Championships. The trio that will anchor this year’s squad includes All-Americans Katie Schenfeld and Taylor Drenttel, and All-Region honoree Ann Jackson.

The Gustavus volleyball program begins a new era as Rachelle Dosch takes over as head coach for Kari Eckheart who resigned to accept a position as assistant athletics director at the College. Dosch will work with an experienced group of players including five starters and 13 letterwinners from a squad that posted a record of 11-17 overall and finished in a tie for ninth place in the MIAC with mark of 3-8.

Women’s Soccer Falls In Season Opener To UW-Stevens Point 3-0

The Gustavus women’s soccer team opened the 2010 season with a 3-0 loss to non-conference opponent UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday afternoon in Stevens Point, Wis. UW-Stevens Point forward Angela Gallow recorded two goals in the match, while goalkeeper Liz Hunter made four saves on her way to the shutout.

Cross Country Teams Host Alumni Meet

The Gustavus men's and women's cross country teams hosted their annual Alumni Meet in the Linnaeus Arboretum on Saturday, August 31. Thirty-two runners took part in the women's race including 27 members of the 2010 women's team and five alums, while 39 runners took part in the men's race including 19 members of the 2010 men's team and 20 alums.

Gustavus Head Coach Dale Bahr is looking forward to his second year at the helm as the Gusties return six letterwinners from a squad that finished eighth at the MIAC Championships and 16th out of 25 teams at the NCAA Central Region meet last year.
