Malea Noennig was named to the All-Tournament Team
Senior setter Malea Noennig set the tone for the Gustavus volleyball team with her sharp passing and solid defense on Saturday and the result was two impressive wins for Coach Rachelle Dosch and the Gusties at the Elmhurst Invitational. Gustavus finished the tournament with a 3-1 record and Noennig was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Gustavus topped Westminster 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-18) in its first game of the day and then wrapped up the tournament with an impressive 3-0 win over Wheaton (IL) (25-21, 26-24, 25-18).
Coach Rachelle Dosch was pleased with how her squad continued to improve each game. She stated, “I am happy with how the team responded to the adjustments we made after each match. This group has really responded to coaching, but we know we have to continue to work hard in practice on many things in order to prepare for our TOUGH conference season.”
The Gusties will return home to host the Gustavus Classic next Friday and Saturday in the Lund Center.
