Gustavus Adolphus senior Max Hanson (Buffalo, Minn.) has been named the MIAC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week for his performances at the Meet of the UnSaintly hosted by Hamline on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.  Hanson won the 800-meter run with an NCAA Automatic Qualifying time of 1:50.31, and turned in a 47.2 second split for the second place 4×400-meter relay team of Matt Leeb, Cristian Raether, and John Kennedy.

Hanson’s time in the 800-meter run is the second fastest in NCAA Division III, and the fastest time in the MIAC.  Hanson’s 800 on Saturday also broke the Gustavus school record in the event.  The previous record time in the 800-meter run was 1:51.86, set by Chris Theim in 1969.
