Sierra Krebsbach Named The 2010 Chris Evert Award Recipient

Gustavus Adolphus senior Sierra Krebsbach (North Oaks, Minn.) has been named the recipient of the 2010 Chris Evert Award as part of the 2010 MIAC Women’s Tennis Awards announced Friday, May 7. The award annually recognizes a senior tennis student-athlete with outstanding sportsmanship and exemplary athletic, academic, and humanitarian accomplishments.

Gustavus Adolphus senior Sierra Krebsbach (North Oaks, Minn.) has been named the recipient of the 2010 Chris Evert Award as part of the 2010 MIAC Women’s Tennis Awards announced Friday, May 7.  The award annually recognizes a senior tennis student-athlete with outstanding sportsmanship and exemplary athletic, academic, and humanitarian accomplishments.

Sierra Krebsbach, an All-Conference performer in both singles (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) and doubles (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) the past four seasons, concluded the regular season of her senior year with an overall record of 15-9 and a MIAC record of 9-1 in singles.  In doubles, she finished 16-10 overall and 8-2 in the MIAC.

In her career at Gustavus, Krebsbach has gone 73-41 overall and 32-3 in the MIAC in singles, and 95-37 overall and 34-3 in the MIAC in doubles.  Within those four years, the Gustavus women’s tennis team has gone 103-35 overall and 40-0 in the MIAC.  Krebsbach is a three-time NCAA Doubles All-American and a NCAA Singles All-American

Her list of career accomplishments includes first place finishes in doubles at the 2009 and 2008 ITA Midwest Regionals, a second place finish in doubles at the 2006 ITA Midwest Regional, a second place finish in singles at the 2007 ITA Midwest Regional, and a third place finish in doubles at the 2007 ITA Small College Championships.

Krebsbach carries a 3.8 GPA and will graduate with honors this May with a degree in Communication Studies from Gustavus.  Along with her accomplishments on the court, Sierra has been named to the MIAC Academic All-Conference Team four times (2010, 2009, 2008, 2007).  Her experience at Gustavus also includes time spent studying abroad at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark during the Fall semester in 2008.  Krebsbach is a member of the Student Athlete Volunteer Educators (S.A.V.E), the Gustavus Communication Studies Board, Phi Beta Kappa National Honors Fraternity, and Lambda Pi Eta Communication Studies Honors Fraternity.  Sierra can be seen on Gustavus T.V., where she has served as a sports reporter and Executive Producer over the past four years.

The Gustavus women’s tennis team will compete in the MIAC Playoffs this weekend on Saturday, May 8, against Saint Ben’s in the quarterfinals at 9:00 a.m.
