Gymnastics Drops Dual To UW-Whitewater 180.74-169.800

The Gustavus gymnastics team fell to a strong UW-Whitewater squad 180.725-169.800 on Saturday afternoon in Whitewater, Wisc. Danielle Thibodeau had the top Gustavus finish of the day by taking second on the vault with a mark of 9.100. UW-Whitewater’s Katie Thompson took first place in the all-around with a score of 37.000.

The Gustavus gymnastics team fell to a strong UW-Whitewater squad 180.725-169.800 on Saturday afternoon in Whitewater, Wisc. Danielle Thibodeau had the top Gustavus finish of the day by taking second on the vault with a mark of 9.100.  UW-Whitewater’s Katie Thompson took first place in the all-around with a score of 37.000.

Gustavus registered individual event scores of 44.125 on the vault, 40.650 on the uneven parallel bars, 41.450 on the balance beam, and 43.575 on the floor exercise.  UW-Whitewater totaled marks of 44.125 on the vault, 40.650 on the bars, 41.450 on the beam, and 43.575 on the floor.

Katie Thompson was the top gymnast of the dual with wins on the vault (9.200) and beam (9.250), and second place finishes on the bars (9.250) and floor (9.300).  Other individual event wins came from Justine Weyer on the bars (9.375) and Mary Kate Young on the floor (9.375).  Other top Gustavus performances came from Kelly Mathewson, with a third place finish on the floor (9.225), and Thibodeau, with a third place finish on the bars (9.100).  Thibodeau was also third in the all-around with a score of 35.275.

The Gustavus gymnastics team will compete in the WIAC Championships, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College in the Lund Center Forum on Sunday, March 7.
