Women’s Track & Field Takes Part In Ted Nelson Classic

The Gustavus women’s track and field team had the opportunity to compete in the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by MSU-Mankato in the Meyers Field House Saturday afternoon. No team scores were kept at the meet, yet the Gusties turned in five top five finishes at the meet.

The Gustavus women’s track and field team had the opportunity to compete in the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by MSU-Mankato in the Meyers Field House Saturday afternoon.  No team scores were kept at the meet, yet the Gusties turned in five top three finishes at the meet.

Sarah Baker was the only Gustie to finish in first place at the meet.  She tied for first with St. Cloud State’s Nish Rubash and Augustana’s Karissa Pepin in the high jump, as they all cleared 5′ 1″.  Second place finishers included Janey Helland and Becca Bryson.  Helland in the long jump (17′ 11″), and Bryson in the triple jump (35′ 0.50″).  Sam Broderius placed third in the shot put (40′ 04.25″), whle Lauren Rothschiller finished behind Bryson in third in the triple jump (34′ 01″).

The Gustavus women’s track and field team will compete at the Carleton Meet of Hearts on Feb. 13 at 11:00 am in Northfield.
