Select members of the Gustavus men’s indoor track and field team competed at the Bethel Open on Saturday afternoon in the Bethel Field House in Arden Hills, Minn. Matt Dvorak and Colin Rust both turned in strong performances, as Rust won the long jump (19’3.25″) and the triple jump (39′ 5.25″), while Dvorak placed second in both the the 55 meter dash (6.68) and 200 meter dash (23.89).
Other top Gustavus finishers included Carson Smith and Carl Stenoien. Smith placed third in the 600 yard dash with time of 1:17.62, while Stenoien also took third in the triple jump (39’5.25″). John Kennedy placed fourth in the one mile (4:35.63), Matt Benson took fourth in the shot put (41’7″), and Jordan Vandorp rounded out the top performances with a fourth place finish in the pole vault (12’3.50″).
The Gustavus men’s indoor track and field team will compete at the MSU-Mankato Open on Jan. 29-30 in Mankato, Minn. Start time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
