The Gustavus men’s hockey team posted a 4-3 non-conference win over Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on Saturday evening. The two teams will wrap up the series on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. Gustavus, which has now won five straight, is 7-3-1 overall.
Joe Welch led the Gusties with two goals including the game-winner at 17:26 of the third period. Others scoring for Gustavus included Brad Wieck (3:31, 2nd period), Ross Ring-Jarvi (14:40, 3rd period). Welch’s first goal, which was short-handed, came at 11:47 of the second period.
Josh Swartout picked up the win in the nets for the Gusties. He registered 30 saves.
