Gustavus senior Carrie Gundersen (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) has been named MIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for her efforts at the Falcon Invitational held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday. Gundersen recorded two firsts, two seconds, and one third place finish over the two-day period. She won both the 500 freestyle (5:11.43) and 1650 freestyle (17:53.13), placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:57.44) and 400 freestyle relay (3:38.88), and finished third in the 200 butterfly (2:18.09). Her times in the four freestyle events are the fastest in the MIAC so far this year.
As the Gusties near the halfway point of the season, Gundersen has already compiled an impressive resume. She has won 11 races, placed second in five, and finished third three times so far this season.
