Junior midfielder Max Malmquist scored three minutes into overtime allowing Gustavus to claim a hard-fought 1-0 win over Central College in Pella, Iowa on Saturday morning. The Gusties held an 18-13 advantage in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks, but could not find the net until Malmquist scored (with an assist from Bret Vander Streek) to give the Gusties their second win of the season (2-1-1) in the 93rd minute.
Gustie goalkeeper Luke Strom registered four saves and picked up his first shutout of the season.
Gustavus will play Simpson in Indianola, Iowa on Sunday at 4 pm.
