Women’s Tennis Suffers 5-0 Loss To Amherst In NCAA Quarterfinals

The 13th-ranked Gustavus women's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 5-0 loss to top-ranked Amherst College in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The NCAA Championship is being hosted by Oglethorpe University. Coach Jon Carlson and the Gusties wrapped up the season at 23-10 overall.

Men’s Tennis Falls To Washington University 5-3 In NCAA Quarterfinals

The Gustavus men's tennis team saw its season come to an end after suffering a 5-3 loss to Washington University in the NCAA quarterfinal round on Tuesday morning. The NCAA Championship is being hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College in Claremont, Calif. The Gusties finish the season at 27-9, while the Bears improved to 22-2.

A.J. Olson Named GCAA All-America Scholar

Gustavus Adolphus College men's golfer A.J. Olson (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for his play on the links as well as his work in the classroom. Olson ranked second on the team with a 78.0 scoring average during the 2008-09 season.

Tom Thorkelson Named Division III Central Region Women’s Track and Field Coach Of The Year

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has selected Tom Thorkelson as the 2009 Division III Central Region Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year. Thorkelson was one of eight coaches to receive regional coach of year honors and is now eligible for Division III National Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Women’s Tennis Prepared To Face Amherst At NCAA Division III Team Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team will participate in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships Tuesday-Thursday, May 19-21 at the Collins Hill Athletic Club in Lawrenceville, Ga. Oglethorpe University is the host institution. Gustavus will face Amherst in a quarterfinal match at 1 pm (CDT), Tuesday, May 19.

Softball Falls To Coe College 4-2, Earns Third Place At NCAA Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus College softball team saw its dream season come to an end after a 4-2 loss to Coe College on Monday afternoon in Montclair, New Jersey. The Kohawks scored a pair of runs in the late innings to break a 2-2 tie to grab a 4-2 lead. However, the Gusties put runners in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to pick up key hits to move them around. Gustavus, which received the third place trophy, finished the season with the program's first 40-win campaign at 42-9.

Lisa Brown Named Division III Central Region Field Athlete Of The Year

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has selected Gustavus Adolphus senior Lisa Brown as the 2009 Division III Central Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year. Brown was one of eight student-athletes to receive regional athlete of year honors and is now eligible for Division III National Women's Field Athlete of the Year.

Four Men’s Track and Field Members Qualify For NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Four members of the Gustavus men's track and field team have been selected to participate in the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held May 21-23 at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. That group includes senior Tyler Geyen (110-meter hurdles and 4x400 meter relay), junior Cole Carlson (400 meters and 4x400 meter relay), sophomore Colby Citrowske (4x400 meter relay), and sophomore Matt Leeb (4x400 meter relay).

Men’s Tennis To Face Washington University In NCAA Division III Team Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team will participate in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships Tuesday-Sunday, May 19-24 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is the host institution. Gustavus will face Washington University in St. Louis in a quarterfinal match at 12 pm (CDT), Tuesday, May 19. Individual competition in singles and doubles will follow team competition May 22-24.

Six Women’s Track and Field Team Members Qualify For NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Six members of the Gustavus women's track and field team have been selected to participate in the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held May 21-23 at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. That group includes senior Lisa Brown, junior Kaelene Lundstrum, sophomore Sam Broderius, senior Elizabeth Pringle, sophomore Abby Karl, and first year Danielle Burgmeier.
