Women’s Swimming Set To Compete In NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women’s swimming team will send two swimmers to the NCAA Championships this weekend which will be hosted by Macalester College at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center. The two swimmers who qualified include Carrie Gundersen (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) and Anika Erickson (So., Milaca, Minn.).

The two swimmers who qualified include Carrie Gundersen (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) and Anika Erickson (So., Milaca, Minn.).

Junior Carrie Gundersen, who will be making her second appearance at the NCAA Championships, enters this year’s meet seeded fourth in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:09.69, and 19th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:01.05. Gundersen will also swim the 200 freestyle.

Sophomore Anika Erickson will be making her first appearance at the national meet. She enters the meet seeded 13th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.93 and 21st in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.07.

The meet begins on Wednesday with Carrie Gundersen swimming the 500 freestyle and Anika Erickson swimming the 50 freestyle.

On Thursday, Gunderson will swim the 200 freestyle.

On Friday, Erickson will swim the 100 breaststroke.

On Saturday, Gunderson will swim the 1650 freestyle and Erickson will swim the 200 breaststroke.
