Men’s Indoor Track and Field Claims First Place At The Meet Of The Hearts

The Gustavus men's indoor track and field team claimed first place in seven events as the team finished first with 159 points at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton College. The Gusties finished 25.5 points ahead of fellow MIAC school, Hamline, which tallied 123.5 points. Other schools at the meet included Carleton, Luther, and Macalester, which tallied 121 points, 102.5 points, and 36 points, respectively.

Men’s Hockey Falls At Concordia 3-1

Concordia special teams play dealt the Gustavus men's hockey team a blow in its pursuit of a MIAC Playoff spot as the Cobbers defeated the Gusties 3-1 on Friday night in Moorhead. Special teams played a role in the contest as Concordia registered a power play and shorthanded goal, while Cobber goaltender Joe Duncan withstood the Gustavus attack stopping 30 shots. The Gusties dropped to 13-9-0 overall and 8-5-0 in the MIAC.

Women’s Hockey Erupts For Four Goals In Third Period, Defeats Concordia 7-0

The Gustavus women's hockey team extended its unbeaten string to 20 games with a convincing 7-0 win over Concordia at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter, Minn. on Friday night. The Gusties led 1-0 after one period, and 3-0 after two periods, before scoring four goals in the third to pull away for the victory. Allie Schwab led Gustavus with two goals and two assists. The Gusties will host the Cobbers in the second game of the series tomorrow at 2:00 pm.

Strong First Half Gives Men’s Basketball 74-55 Win Over St. Olaf, Clinches Playoff Spot

The Gustavus men's basketball team went on a decisive 31-2 run in the first half en route to clinching its ninth consecutive berth in the MIAC Playoffs after a 74-55 win against St. Olaf on Wednesday in St. Peter. For the first twenty minutes, the Gusties were nearly perfect on the offensive end shooting 65.4 percent, while holding the Oles to just 28.6 percent. Phil Wirtjes and Robert Schmidt contributed 14 points each in the victory for Gustavus.

Women’s Basketball Gets Back On Winning Track With 66-42 Win At St. Olaf

The Gustavus women's basketball team, which had its four-game winning streak snapped by Hamline last Saturday, jumped right back on the winning track on Wednesday night with a convincing 66-42 win at St. Olaf. Emily Nelson led all Gustavus in scoring with 18 points. The Gusties improved to 15-7 overall and 13-6 in the MIAC with the victory.

Women’s Basketball Team Set To Host Pink Zone Event This Saturday Against St. Thomas

The Gustavus women's basketball team will host a Pink Zone event in memory of Kay Yow, former head basketball coach at North Carolina State University, this Saturday, Feb. 14 against St. Thomas at 1:00 pm. Coach Mickey Haller and her squad will be asking fans to donate funds to the Kay Yow FundTM to fight breast cancer sponsored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Softball Team Takes Part in "Valentines for Kids" Program

Members of the Gustavus Adolphus College women's softball team celebrated this weekend's Valentine's Day by participating in a 98.5 KTIS radio station ministry opportunity, "Valentine's for Kids." The service project sends valentines to children in hospitals undergoing treatment that are unable to attend their own school's Valentine's Day party.

Men’s Basketball Moves Closer To MIAC Playoffs After Defeating Carleton 59-53

The Gustavus men's basketball team moved one step closer to earning a spot in the MIAC Playoffs by defeating Carleton 59-53 on Monday night at Gus Young Court. In a very physical contest, the Gusties dominated the boards out-rebounding the Knights 39-23 eliminating second-chance scoring opportunities. Gustavus also executed on the offensive end, shooting 51.1 percent from the field. In a game that was a true team effort, no Gustie reached double-figures.

Relays Lead Women’s Swimming and Diving Team at the Minnesota Challenge

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team team competed at the Minnesota Challenge hosted by the University of Minnesota at the U of M Aquatics Center on Friday and Saturday. No team scores were kept, but the Gusties swam well, particularly in the relay events. The 200 free relay team of Emily Amundsen, Jonna Berry, Serena Elthon, and Dajanna Vidovic started the meet off with a splash as it finished third in a time of 1:40.28.

Relays Highlight Men’s Swimming and Diving Performance At Minnesota Challenge

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team took part in the Minnesota Challenge hosted by the University of Minnesota at the U of M Aquatics Center on Friday and Saturday. While no team scores were kept, Gustavus swam well against a quality field that included teams from NCAA Division I, II, and III. The Gustie relay teams sparked the squad during the weekend as the 400 and 800 free relay teams posted second place finishes and the 400 medley relay team posted a third place finish.
