Men’s Basketball Sinks Key Free Throws To Defeat Saint Mary’s 66-59

As the Gustavus men's basketball team clung to a three-point lead with less than a minute to play, the Gusties went 6-for-6 from the free throw line to hang on for a 66-59 win over Saint Mary's on Wednesday at Gus Young Court. Gustavus shot 53.5 percent from the field on 23-for-43 shooting and held the Cardinals to 31.7 percent (20-for-63), including 2-for-19 from three-point range.

Women’s Basketball Pulls Away In Second Half, Claims 65-48 Win Over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus women's basketball team out-scored Saint Mary's 18-2 to start the second half and never looked back on its way to a convincing 65-48 win over the Cardinals in Winona on Wednesday night. The Gusties shot 56.0 percent from the field (14-25) and 50.0 percent from three-point range (4-8) in the second half. Three Gustavus players scored in double figures including Emily Nelson with 13, Julia Schultz with 12, and Brianna Radtke with 11. The Gusties are now 11-6 overall and 9-5 in the MIAC.

Skylar Davis Named MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Skylar Davis (Palatine, Ill.) has been named the MIAC Swimmer of the Week for his efforts last weekend in Stevens Point, Wis. Davis recorded two individual first place finishes and one first place finish on a relay to help the Gusties finish second out of six teams at the Get To The Point Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point.

Women’s Hockey Teams Jumps Out To Early Lead, Then Holds On For 5-3 Win Over UW-River Falls

The Gustavus women's hockey built a 4-1 lead early in the third period and then had to hold off a scrappy UW-River Falls squad for a 5-3 victory at Don Roberts Ice Rink on Tuesday evening. The Gusties were led by Kathryn DelZoppo who scored a goal and picked up three assists. Emily Klatt was credited with the win in the nets. Gustavus is now 12-1-3 overall.

Kelly Chaudoin Turns In Two Strong Performances To Lead the Nordic Ski Team at Mount Itasca Super Tour Races

Senior Kelly Chaudoin finished seventh overall and first in the collegiate division in the women's 10 kilometer freestyle race held at Mount Itasca in Coleraine, Minn. on Sunday afternoon. Chaudoin turned in one of the strongest performances of her career as she finished :53 seconds ahead of her closest collegiate competitor. Chaudoin also added a 25th place finish on Saturday in the 10 kilometer classic race.

Men’s and Women’s Nordic Skiing Taking Part in NCAA Qualifier in Coleraine, Minnesota

The men's and women's nordic ski teams are taking part in a NCAA Qualifier Meet that will include a classic race on Saturday and a freestyle race on Sunday in Coleraine, Minn. The Gusties were led by Kelly Chaudoin, who finished sixth among college women and Jens Brabbit, who placed 10th among the college men. Erin Eppler also posted a top 20 finish for the women, which is the best of her collegiate career.

Men’s Hockey Sweeps Augsburg With 8-4 Win

The Gustavus men's hockey team scored four goals in the first period and kept on scoring as the Gusties defeated Augsburg 8-4 on Saturday at Don Roberts Ice Rink. David Martinson led Gustavus with two goals and an assist as eleven different players recorded points. The Gustie win gave Head Coach Brett Petersen's squad a key sweep in the standings to stay in contention for home-ice advantage during the MIAC Playoffs as Gustavus improved to 12-7-0 overall and 7-3-0 in the league.

Women’s Basketball Drops Third Straight, Falls At Concordia 71-58

The Gustavus women's basketball team fell to 8-5 in MIAC with a 71-58 loss to Concordia in Moorhead on Saturday afternoon. The Cobbers jumped out to an early 10-point lead at 14-4 and never looked back as they earned a season split with the Gusties who had beaten them 71-60 in December in St. Peter. Gustavus was led in scoring by Molly Geske with 14 points.

Men’s Basketball Suffers Heartbreaking 69-68 Loss At Concordia

Concordia's Karl Larson made a free throw with 00:03 on the clock as the Cobbers knocked off the Gustavus men's basketball team 69-68 on Saturday in Moorhead. Gustie junior Sam Paulson made a pair of free throws with 00:31 remaining to tie the game, but Larson made the second of two free throws to put Concordia ahead as Gustavus was unable to get a shot off on the last possession of the game. Robert Schmidt led the Gusties in scoring with 18 points as he went 4-for-5 from the three-point line.
