Men’s Swimming In Seventh Place After First Day Of Falcon Invitational

The Gustavus men's swimming team is in sixth place out of nine teams at the Falcon Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at River Falls and held at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis. Skylar Davis turned in the top performance on the day with a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. The meet concludes on Saturday.

Men’s Hockey Defeats Bethel 2-1 In Overtime As Brett Petersen Gets 100th Career Win

David Martinson scored a power play goal three minutes into overtime to give the Gustavus men's hockey team a 2-1 win over Bethel in Blaine on Friday. Head Coach Brett Petersen earned the 100th win of his career with the victory as the Gusties improved to 6-3-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the MIAC. The Royals dropped to 6-4-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the league standings.

Big Second Half Propels Women’s Basketball Team to 77-53 Win Over Carleton

The Gustavus women's basketball team used a 17-0 run at the start of the second half to pull away from Carleton and post a 24-point win over the Knights, 77-53 in St. Peter. The Gusties, who improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC, were led by Katie Layman with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Coach Mickey Haller's squad will remain home and host Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

MIAC Basketball Press Guide Now Available Online

The 2008-09 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's and Women's Basketball Media Guide is now available online in PDF format. The media guide provides information on each of the eleven men's teams and twelve women's teams in the conference. Also included in the guide are conference schedules, records, statistics, results, as well as other historical information.

Tennis Player John Kauss Set To Participate In International University Challenge of Tennis in France

Gustavus Adolphus College senior tennis player John Kauss has been selected as one of six players to represent the United States in the International University Challenge of Tennis to be held this weekend, Dec. 4-7 in Poitiers, France.

Gustavus Set To Interview Two For Head Football Coach Opening

Gustavus Adolphus College will be interviewing two candidates for its vacant head football coaching position on campus this Thursday, Dec. 4 and Friday, Dec. 5. The two candidates are Minneapolis Washburn High School Head Coach Peter Haugen and current Gustavus Assistant Coach Tom Brown. Haugen will be on campus all day on Thursday, while Brown will be on campus all day on Friday. The College hopes to announce its new coach as soon as possible after the interviews.

Football Player T.J. Ridley Named To CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team

Gustavus Adolphus College football player T.J. Ridley, a junior safety from Edina, Minn., has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Ridley, who carries a 3.96 grade point average with a major in Biology and Pre-Med, finished the season with 38 tackles (18 solo), two interceptions, and 1.5 tackles for loss. He is also a forward on the Golden Gustie men's hockey team.
