Men’s Soccer Falls 2-0 To Luther Posted on October 16th, 2008 by

The Gustavus men’ soccer team saw its five-match unbeaten string come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Luther in Decorah, Iowa on Wednesday night. The match statistics in shots and corner kicks were even, however the Norse were able to score a goal in each half to claim the non-conference win. Gustavus is now 10-3-1 overall.

Luther took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Adam Pyzdrowski in the 37th minute. The Norse extended their lead to 2-0 when Alex Case scored off a corner kick in the 63rd minute.

Gustavus outshot Luther 13-12, while both teams recorded eight corner kicks. Gustie goalkeeper Luke Strom, who suffered the loss, registered four saves, while Norse goalkeeper Paul Armstrong, who recorded the win, posted five saves.

The Gusties next match will be Saturday against conference foe St. Olaf in Northfield at 1:00 pm.
