The Gustavus men’s golf team fired a final round team score of 304 and finished second to Saint John’s at the MIAC Championships which were held at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, Minn. The Gusties, who finished with a 54-hole total of 314-299-304–917, were led individually by Ricky Copeland who placed third with a total of 75-71-75–221. Saint John’s won the title with a total of 300-295-294–889.
Copeland, a junior from Mahtomedi, Minn., capped off a strong tournament with a three-over par 75. His 54-hole total of 75-71-75–221 was just three shots behind medalist Joe Schoolmeesters who posted a score of 71-73-74–218. Joining Copeland on the All-Conference Team was junior Josh Curb (Bemidji, Minn.) who tied for tenth place at 79-73-77–229.
Completing the team score for Gustavus were A.J. Olson (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.), John Anderson (Fy., Appleton, Wis.), and Derek Hilding (Jr., Spicer, Minn.). Olson finished 13th with a total of 81-73-78–232, Anderson tied for 28th at 79-82-79–240, and Hilding tied for 36th at 85-85-74–244.
