The Gustavus men’s golf team finished fourth out of 15 teams at the Frank Wriggelsworth Blugold Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and played at the Eau Claire Country Club. The Gusties fired a 36-hole total of 304-317–621 and finished ten shots behind champion Saint John’s at 301-306–607. Josh Curb led the team individually as he placed third at 76-74–150.
Curb, a junior from Bemidji, Minn., posted his career best 36-hole total at 76-74–150 and his final round 74 was his second best single round score. Others scoring for Gustavus included Ricky Copeland at 75-78–153 (11th tie), John Anderson at 74-84–158 (25th tie), A.J. Olson at 79-81–160 (33rd tie), Derek Hilding at 80-84–164 (52nd tie), and Tony Meierhofer at 81-84–165 (55th tie).
The Gusties will host their own Twin Cities Classic this weekend. The 54-hole tournament will be played at Elk River Country Club on Saturday, The Links at Northfork on Sunday, and the White Bear Yacht Club on Monday.
