In its final competition before the NCAA Championships, the Gustavus men’s golf team lost a dual meet against Saint John’s 323-302 on Saturday afternoon at the Wayzata Country Club. The Gusties were led by Mark Stuckey (Sr., St. Peter, Minn.), who fired a total of 76, to finish in third place individually. Joe Schoolmeesters of Saint John’s was the medalist with a score of 72. Gustavus will compete in the NCAA Championships at Chateau Elan in Brasilton, Ga. on May 13-16.
Eric Harris (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) joined Mark Stuckey in the top five after posting a score of 78 for a three-way tie in fifth place. A.J. Olson (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.) finished in 10th place with a score of 83, as Ricky Copeland (So., Mahtomedi, Minn.) and Kyle Rohlfs (Sr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) tied for 15th place with scores of 86.
Coach Scott Moe entered two Gustavus teams into the dual meet, as Gustavus Black placed fourth with a total of 342. Kevin Horn (Jr., Omaha, Neb.) led Gustavus Black with a ninth place finish with a score of 81. Other scores included Josh Curb (So., Bemidji, Minn.) in a tie for 13th place with a total of 85, Christopher Cole (Sr., New London, Minn.) and Derek Hilding (So., Willmar, Minn.) in a tie for 55th place with a score of 88, and Alex Woodhull (So., Minnetonka, Minn.) in 20th place with a total of 92.
