Baseball Doubleheader At Saint John’s On Tuesday Postponed, Rescheduled For Wednesday

The Gustavus baseball doubleheader at Saint John's scheduled for Tuesday, April 8 has been postponed until Wednesday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m. in Collegeville. The Gusties are still scheduled to play Concordia on Thursday in Moorhead at 1:00 pm.

Lisa Brown Named MIAC Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn.) has been named the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week by the league track and field coaches. Brown won the javelin at the Central Invitational this past Saturday with an automatic national qualifying throw of 151' 2". She also placed second in the shot put with a throw of 42' 6 3/4". That toss provisionally qualifies her for nationals in the shot put. The Gusties finished fourth out of 18 teams at the meet.

Rachel Roberg Named MIAC Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College senior Rachel Roberg (Rice Lake, Wis.) has been named the MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week by the league coaches. Roberg shot 80-80 to finish in fourth place at the Wartburg Invitational at Centennial Golf Course, site of the 2008 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, in Waverly, Iowa on Sunday.

Softball Swept By St. Thomas 10-2, 11-1

The Gustavus softball team allowed six home runs on a cold day in St. Paul as the Gusties were swept by fifth-ranked St. Thomas 10-2 in six innings and 11-1 in five innings on Tuesday. The Gustie offense was held to three runs on nine hits, as the Tommie pitchers combined to strikeout ten Gustavus batters during the doubleheader. Gustavus fell to 11-5 overall and 1-3 in league play, while St. Thomas improved to 21-3 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC.

Baseball Doubleheader At St. Olaf On Monday Postponed, No Reschedule Date At This Time

The Gustavus baseball doubleheader scheduled to be played at St. Olaf on Monday at 2:30 pm has been postponed due to poor field conditions. No reschedule date has been set at this time. In addition, the Concordia doubleheader that had been moved to April 9, has now been moved to April 10.

The Gustavus baseball doubleheader scheduled for Sunday at St. Olaf has been postponed due to rain and poor field conditions and moved to Monday, April 7 at 2:30 pm.

Softball Doubleheader Suspended At UW-Stout In Third Inning

The softball doubleheader scheduled between Gustavus and UW-Stout was suspended after the third inning due to heavy rain with the Gusties trailing 3-0. A make-up date for the series at Menomonie, Wis. will be rescheduled for a later date and will resume in the fourth inning of the first game. Gustavus' next doubleheader is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8 at 4 p.m. in St. Paul.

Women’s Golf Wins Wartburg Invitational

The Gustavus women's golf team kicked off its spring schedule with a first-place finish at the Wartburg Invitational at Centennial Golf Course, site of the 2008 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, in Waverly, Iowa on Sunday. The Gusties shot 319 on the second day of competition for a two-day total of 329-319--648, which was 18 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Illinois Wesleyan. Gustavus was led by Rachel Roberg, who finished fourth with a total of 80-80--160.

Women’s Track and Field Finishes Fourth at Central Invite, Lisa Brown Qualifies For National Meet In Javelin

The Gustavus women's track and field team opened its outdoor season with a strong fourth place finish at the Central College Invitational in Pella, Iowa on Saturday. Junior Lisa Brown led the Gusties with a first place finish in the javelin and a second place finish in the shot put.

Men’s Track and Field Team Opens Outdoor Season With Eighth Place Finish at Central Invititational

The Gustavus men's track and field team opened its outdoor season with an eighth place finish out of 18 teams at the Central Invitational in Pella, Iowa on Saturday. Pole vaulter Drew Hood turned in the top individual finish of the day as he placed second at a height of 14 feet, 8 1/4 inches.
