Men’s Tennis Team Selected To Host NCAA Regional This Weekend

The Gustavus men’s tennis team has been selected to host one of eight NCAA Regional Tournaments this weekend. Play will begin on Friday, May 2 with Luther (29-9) facing Carthage (14-9) in a first round match. On Saturday, May 3, Gustavus (28-5) will play the winner of the Luther/Carthage match in the second round. The other second round match has the University of Texas at Tyler (17-6) facing the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater (19-7). The winner’s of Saturday’s matches will play on Sunday, May 4 for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Team Championship which will be held May 13-15 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Times have not yet been set for any of the matches this weekend.

Gustavus, which will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 26th time, will be making its 15th consecutive appearance. The Gusties have won the NCAA Championship twice (1980 and 1982).
