Women’s Tennis Defeats Hamline 8-1

The Gustavus women’s tennis team extended its MIAC winning streak by defeating Hamline 8-1 on Friday in St. Paul. The Gusties improved to 17-8 overall and 7-0 in MIAC competition, while the Pipers dropped to 4-13 overall and 0-8 in league play. Gustavus earned all three doubles points, dropping just one game in doubles play.

The Gustie double tandems to pick up victories included Jenni White and Sierra Krebsbach at #1 doubles, Sam Frank and Ali O’Neal at #2 doubles, and Christine Reimer and Erica Dobson at #3 doubles.

The closest singles match came at the #1 position as Jenni White defeated Kelly Gust 6-1, 6-4. Other Gustavus singles winners included Ali O’Neal (#3), Sam Frank (#4), Erica Dobson (#5), Jenny Arnfelt (#6). Hamline’s lone point came at #2 singles when Sierra Krebsbach was forced to retire due to injury.

Gustavus will host Saint Mary’s at 11 a.m. and St. Thomas at 4 p.m. on Sunday in St. Peter.
