The Gustavus women’s tennis team suffered its second consecutive loss on Thursday afternoon after falling to Division II Southwest Baptist University of Bolivar, Mo. 7-2 at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter. The Gusties fell to 10-4 in dual match play with the loss.
Jenni White and Sierra Krebsbach claimed an 8-6 victory for Gustavus over Iveta Wolfgramm and Johanna Olsson at the #1 doubles position. The Gustie duos of Marianne Barau and Julie Bardenwerper and Jennie Andersen and Kelsey Brugger suffered losses at #2 and #3 doubles, respectively.
The Gusties tallied one point in singles competition as Jenni White improved to 16-7 in #1 singles by defeating Chelsey Janzen 6-4, 6-1. Sam Frank rallied from one set down to force a super-tiebreaker after winning the second set 6-0 at #2 singles, but lost to Iveta Wolfgramm. Gustavus went on to lose in straight sets at #3, #4, #5, and #6 singles.
Gustavus will travel to Virginia during spring break and face sixth-ranked University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. on Tuesday, March 25.
