The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team turned in a sixth place finish with 388 points at the two-day UW-Stevens Point Invitational in Stevens Point, Wis. The Gusties finished 478.5 points behind first-place University of North Dakota. Three swimmers registered top five finishes at the meet that featured three Division II schools, including Minnesota State University-Mankato, Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and UND.
Carrie Gundersen (So., Minnetonka, Minn.) turned in the only top five finish by a Gustavus female swimmer on Friday as she finished fifth in the 500 freestyle in 5:24.95. She also earned second place in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:12.29 for the last top five finish on Saturday. Marnie Luke (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.) finished fourth in the 400 IM on Saturday as she touched the wall in 4:55.32. Christi O’Connor (So., Great Falls, Mont.) had another strong outing as she finished fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:16.44).
Gustavus will host a dual meet with Macalester on Friday, January 25 at 5 p.m.
