Gustavus men’s tennis player Andy Bryan advanced to the singles championship at the ITA Small College Championships with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dan Greenberg of Williams College. Bryan will play John Watts of Washington University in the championship match on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8:30 am (EST). On the women’s side, Jenni White and Sierra Krebsbach won the third place match in the doubles draw by defeating Marissa Lin and Vindya Dayananda of Chicago University 6-3, 6-4.
In men’s doubles, Bryan and partner Charlie Paukert were knocked off by Michael Goodwin and Oliver Lopp of Emory in a tough three set match 6-3, 1-6, and 3-10 in the superbreaker. Bryan and Paukert will now play Charlie Cutler and Chris Hoeland of Washington University in the third place match later this afternoon.
In women’s singles play, Jenni White defeated Sabra Rogers of Emory 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to advance to the consolation final where she will face Katie Tabb of Washington and Lee on Saturday at 10:30 am (EST). Sierra Krebsbach dropped another grueling three-set match. She lost to Katie Tabb 0-6, 7-6 (3), 2-6 and will now play Sabra Rogers in the seventh place match on Saturday at 10:30 am (EST).
