The Gustavus women’s golf team won its third consecutive tournament with a strong showing at the Express Suites Riverport Inn Classic hosted by Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. The Gusties posted a 36-hole total of 315-314–629 to finish five shot ahead of Division II Upper Iowa University. Senior Rachel Roberg (Rice Lake, Wis.) finished second individually with a 36-hole total of 74-77-151.
Roberg was one of three Gustavus players that finished in the top ten as Kimbra Kosak (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) placed third at 74-78–152, and Lauren Runsvold (Jr., Fargo, No. Dak./North) placed seventh playing as an individual at 79-80–159. Rounding out the team scores for Gustavus were Amanda Johnson (Fy., Bemidji, Minn.) who placed 13th at 84-81–165, Kali Griggs (So., Burnsville, Minn.) who placed 17th at 88-79–167, and Katie Schenfeld (Fy., Indianola, Iowa) who placed 21st at 82-87–169. Nicole Tetrault (Fy., Forest Lake, Minn.) played as an individual and she finished 33rd with a score of 92-90–182.
The Gusties hope to continue their fine play this weekend at the MIAC Championships which will be played at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, Minn. on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, October 6-8.
Gustavus has finished second to St. Thomas for three consecutive years.
