Lauren Hom, Sierra Krebsbach Fall in Singles, Advance in Doubles at NCAA Tennis Championships

Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis players Lauren Hom (Sr., Stevens Point, Wis./SPAHS) and Sierra Krebsbach (Fy., North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) each fell in first round singles competition, but rebounded to team for a first round doubles win at the 2007 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. Hom and Krebsbach will face Siobhan Finicane and Becca Lange of Pomona-Pitzer at 3 p.m. ET in a doubles quarterfinal.

Hom dropped her first round singles match 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 to Sonya Reynolds of Swarthmore College, while Krebsbach, a late replacement into the singles draw, fell to Meghan Damico of Denison 6-3, 7-6. The pair overcame their singles defeats to post a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Becca Johnson and Megan Rogers of Linfield (Ore.) to advance to the doubles quarterfinals.

By winning a match at the NCAA Championships, Hom and Krebsbach assured themselves of ITA All-America recognition.
