Competing in a field filled with mostly Division I talent, Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial) finished in a tie for 13th place in the javelin throw at the Drake Relays Friday. Brown, Gustavus’ only competitor at this year’s Drake Relays, posted a distance of 138 feet, 6 inches on her second of three throws. Erma Gene Evans of Texas-El Paso won the event with a throw of 179-1.

Brown finished fourth among the five Division III competitors in the 25-woman field. Alicia Whisner of Central (Iowa) posted the best effort in Division III with a six-place throw of 158-5. Brandi McNeil of Wheaton (Ill.) and Kelsey Hagerty of Simpson (Iowa) place 10th and 11th, respectively. McNeil posted a toss of 142-7, while Hagerty stuck the javelin in at a distance of 139-11.
