The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team wrapped up its Spring Trip with a doubleheader sweep of Middlebury College Sunday at the Snedigar Complex in Chandler, Ariz. The Gusties took game one 4-0 as Andrew Hoffer threw a complete-game two-hitter. Gustavus posted an 11-4 win in game two after allowing four runs in the first inning.
Hoffer struck out seven Panthers en route to the pitching win in game one. Mike DesLauriers went 3-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and a RBI, while Pat Siering went 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
Derek Eddie was roughed up early in game two, allowing four runs in the first inning, but settled down to pitch effectively in his final two innings on the mound. Dave Wold and Chad Schnettler each pitched two innings in relief. DesLauriers and Tony Konicek each emerged in game two with two hits and two RBIs. Shea Roehrkasse and Tyler Kaus each finished 3-for-5 with Roehrkasse recording a RBI.
The Gusties, who finished with a 5-1 record in Arizona, open MIAC play Saturday, March 31 at the University of St. Thomas.
