Gymnastics Drops Dual to UW-Oshkosh 176.500-171.575

The Gustavus Adolphus gymnastics team fell to 2-3 in duals this season following a 176.500-171.575 loss to UW-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon in Oshkosh, Wis. Gustavus will close out its regular season Friday, March 2, when they host Winona State and UW-Stout in a triangular at the Sponberg Gymnastics Studio in St. Peter.

The Gustavus Adolphus gymnastics team fell to 2-3 in duals this season following a 176.500-171.575 loss to UW-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon in Oshkosh, Wis. Gustavus won the balance beam by a score of 43.700-42.950, but came up on the short end in the three other disciplines.

On the balance beam, the Gusties were led by Jaime Tsursaki (So., Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) in first place (8.900), Laura Hansen (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) in second place (8.850), Nicole Gergen (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) tied for third place (8.750), and Kelsie Droogsma (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) tied for fifth place (8.700). Christine Askham (So., Arvada, Colo./West) placed eighth with an 8.500, while Emily Pickford rounded out the Gustie contingent with an 8.150.

The Titans took five of the top six positions in the vault, with the lone Gustie in the top six being Brittany Moore (Sr., Plymouth, Minn./St. Louis Park). Moore tied for second place with a 9.300. Aryn Bell (So., Eden Prairie, Minn.) added an 8.725, Askham posted an 8.700, Jessica Dolan (So., Milroy, Minn./Marshall) registered an 8.635, Christina Sorenson (Fy., Worthington, Minn.) scored an 8.375, and Danielle Berg (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn./Technical) added an 8.100.

Askham posted the top Gustie score on the uneven bars, scoring an 8.950 to place second. Pickford and Hansen tied for sixth on the bars with scores of 8.400, Laurel Urquhart (Fy., Great Falls, Mont.) posted an 8.050, while Bell and Stephanie Lovik (Sr., Rochester, Minn./Century) each scored a 7.750 to round out the Gustie effort on the bars.

The Gustavus effort on the floor exercise was also led by Askham, who finished third with a score of 8.975. Moore finished fifth with an 8.675 and Lovik took sixth with an 8.350, while Dolan (8.300), Gergen (8.300), and Droogsma (7.200) also posted scores for the Gusties.

Askham placed second in the all-around competition with a four-event total of 35.125
