The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team competed at Parents’ Day Open hosted by the University of Minnesota. Competing against athletes from all three divisions of the NCAA, the Gusties came away with seven top ten finishes, led by a fifth-place finish by Jill Fagerstrom (So., Rosemount, Minn.) in the 5000-meter run (19:13.42) and a sixth-place finish by Sari Lindeman (Jr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) in the long jump (16-8 1/2).

Kaelene Lundstrom (Fy., Bird Island, Minn./BOLD) posted a seventh-place mark of 41 1/4 in the shot put, while Sam Madsen (So., Morgan, Minn./Cedar Mountain) added a ninth place finish in the 800 (2:26.11). Elizabeth Pringle (So., Northfield, Minn.) placed tenth in the 400 (64.88), just ahead of Krista Cruse (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) in 13th place (66.61).

Becca Bryson (Fy., Alden, Minn./Alden-Conger) joined Lindeman in the long jump final. She finished second in her qualifying flight with a leap of 15-8 1/4 and then improved upon that to finish in a tie for 11th in the final with a 16-4 1/4 effort.

Gustavus also fared well in two of the three contested relays, finishing sixth in both the 4×200-meter (1:50.16) and distance medley relays (13:39.71). The Gusties also placed 14th in the 4×400 (4:29.33).

The Gusties will take part in the Pre-MIAC Meet hosted by Carleton Friday, Feb. 23 in Northfield.
