Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore forward Jenny Pusch (Minneapolis, Minn./Holy Angels) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending January 28, 2007. Pusch scored five goals, including three on the power play, to help the Gusties post a weekend sweep over Bethel.

Pusch scored the game-winning goal in the second period of Friday’s 4-0 win over the Royals in St. Peter and then exploded offensively for four goals (three on the power play, including the game-winner) in Saturday’s 8-0 victory at Schwan Super Rink in Blaine. Pusch moved into eighth place on the career power-play goal list with 10 and became the first Gustavus player since Laura Vannelli (4g; 11/4/2005 at Lake Forest) to score four goals in a game. This season, Pusch has scored a team-high 10 goals and is fifth on the team with 15 points (10g-5a).

Pusch, who has not declared a major, is the daughter of Greg Pusch and Katy Graves, both of Minneapolis, and a 2005 graduate of Academy of Holy Angels.

Gustavus, ranked second in the most recent USCHO.com Division III Women’s Poll, has won 15 in a row following a season-opening loss to UW-Stevens Point. The Gusties will close out their nonconference schedule Tuesday, Jan. 30 against fifth-ranked UW-Superior in Superior, Wis., before facing St. Thomas Feb. 2-3 in a key MIAC series.
