Men’s Tennis Claims Wins Over Wartburg, Saint John’s, and Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus men’s tennis team improved its record to 17-3 with wins over Saint Mary’s (9-0), Wartburg (7-0), and Saint John’s (8-1) this past Saturday. Coach Steve Wilkinson’s squad only dropped two sets in 18 singles matches played on Saturday and did not lose any of the nine doubles matches.

The Gustavus men’s tennis team improved its record to 17-3 with wins over Saint Mary’s (9-0), Wartburg (7-0), and Saint John’s (8-1) this past Saturday. Coach Steve Wilkinson’s squad only dropped two sets in 18 singles matches played on Saturday and did not lose any of the nine doubles matches. Seventeen different players posted singles wins for the Gusties. In addition, nine different doubles teams picked up victories. The Wartburg match was played in St. Peter, Minn., while the Saint John’s match was played in Sartell, Minn. and the Saint Mary’s match was played Winona, Minn.

Gustavus will travel to Southern California to play Pomona-Pitzer (3/27), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (3/28), Redlands (3/29), and Azusa Pacific (3/30) next week over spring break. Gustavus is currently rated #4 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III poll.
